Yama Yoga

The first limb of Ashtanga Yoga is Yama. There are five types of Yama defined in the scripture, If we follow these five Yamas’ then human can control his sense and mind.

Five kinds of Yama

  • Ahinsa
  • Satya
  • Asteya
  • Brahmacharya
  • Aparigraha

Niyama Yoga Training

The 2nd part of Ashtanga Yoga is Niyama. There are five Niyama are explained in Ashtanga Yoga – Saucha (cleanliness.), Santosh (Contentment), Tapas(discipline) Svadhyaya (Study of the self and texts), Isvara Pranidhana(Surrender yourself to god)

Asana

Asana means stay in a particular situation with awareness and stability for a long period. The practice of Asanas is mainly done for stability in the body which helps in meditation and practice of Pranayama.

Pranayama

After completing Asana we will talk about the 4th part of Ashtanga which is Pranayama. Pranayama is the practice to control breathing. Pranayama is created with two words ‘Prana’ and Ayam. Prana is the spiritual power which gives life in our body. With the help of Pranayama, we provide rest to our body and experience the Prana.

Pratyahara

Pratyahara means, collecting all the senses from outside and dwell them into our minds. The whole parts of Yama and Niyama should be followed properly if you want to get success in Pratyahara. The Seeker becomes fully authorized to control his mind and senses if they practiced Pratyahara. You will get the ultimate happiness after practicing Pratyahara.

Dharana

The practice to concentrate the mind at one place only is known as Dharana. This is the 6th limb of Ashtanga which comes after Pratyahara.

Dhyana

Dhayana is the 7th limb of Asthanga which starts after the end of Dharana. When we achieved concentrate on one place in Dharana then it becomes Dhyana. For example. the river floating in the ocean becomes part of the ocean.

Samadhi

The 8th and the last limb of Ashtanga is Samadhi. Samadhi is that state in which only the yogi remains who can establish the form of god in meditation.
